Ticket Rush
Digital
For my senior thesis, I decided to delve into the world of video games and make my own game. Ever since I was a child, I loved playing video games, and as I got older, I was able to appreciate them more. Going into this, I knew I was not going to make an amazing AAA title, but I knew I would be able to create something I was proud of and could continue to work on once I graduate. Before Ticket Rush, I had no experience coding or making pixel art, but still I wanted to spend my senior year learning how to do everything and make a complete demo. The hardest part was not actually making the art of the game. I actually spent most of my time watching videos on how to code what I thought would be simple things such as character movement or jumping. I learned there is a lot more to coding than I thought. Eventually though, I ended up with a playable demo that I could put out into the world as my thesis. As an artist and gamer, I wanted to create an aesthetically pleasing game that anyone could just pick up and play. This project was able to combine two things I love and am passionate about. At its most basic form, Ticket Rush is a simple platforming game with one goal in mind; get tickets. To me though, this game inspired me to continue to go into video game design and development.
