Volmoon is an interactive historical horror fiction game based on the disturbing events of Bedburg, Germany in the fall of 1589. It is told in the second-person POV, where the reader assumes the role of investigator and outsider as they make their way to Bedburg in order to solve the mystery of who (or what) has been terrorizing the town. Volmoon combines elements of story, illustration, animation, and web design to build suspense, create an atmosphere of dread, and tell a compelling story in which the true horror is not the werewolf hunting the reader, but rather the reader having to live with the consequences of their actions (or in some cases, their inaction).

My goal with Volmoon was to explore the grey areas that exist between art, computer code, and graphic design, and how I as a designer choose to interact with and embrace each one in turn. As I began to piece the different elements of my thesis together, those grey areas began to influence and build off of each other to the point where they became inseparable, and Volmoon would not have been as complete of an experience if those elements had been separated. In that same way, I would not be as good of a designer if I focused my skill on only one area of design rather than exploring as many as possible. My goal is to continue Volmoon after I graduate, and tell the story in its entirety. This is a story that is very near and dear to my heart, and I want to fully flesh it out and tell this story with all the love and attention to detail that it deserves.
